Admission Criteria
Admission criteria to the Hospice House include the same criteria for admission to hospice services in addition to criteria specifically for Hospice House.
- The patient must be receiving Hospice services from Hospice of Reno County, Inc.
- The patient's physician must order admission to the Hospice House.
- The patient and/or family must agree that the patient will not be resuscitated.
- The patient must have a life-threatening disease.
- The physician must agree that the life expectancy will be six months or less if the disease continues with its current progression.
- The patient and family understand that Hospice provides comfort care. Comfort care involves treatment focused at controlling pain, and relieving other physical and emotional symptoms. Hospice focuses on the special needs of the patient and family. Hospice care focuses on caring, not curing.
