The following criteria are used to evaluate the appropriatemenss of a request for service. Admission to Hospice of Reno County, Inc. is based upon the following considerations:

• The patient must have a life-threatening disease.
• The physician must agree that the life expectancy will be 6 months or less if the disease continues with its current progression.
• The patient and family understand that Hospice provides comfort care. Comfort care involves treatment focused at controlling pain, and relieving other physical and emotional smptoms. Hospice focuses on the special needs of the patient and familoy Hospice care focuses on caring, not curing.
• The patient and family must desire Hospice care.
• The patient and family's needs may be met appropriately by Hospice of Reno County, Inc. services.
