The following skilled nursing services are available through HomeCare of Hutchinson.
Observation and Assessment
Observation and assessment clinical indicators may include:
- Abnormal / fluctuating vital signs
- Weight changes
- Edema
- Symptoms of drug toxicity
- Abnormal / fluctuating laboratory values
- Respiratory changes on auscultation
- Medication changes
Teaching and Training Activities
Teaching activities requiring the skills of a nurse may include:
- Administration of injectable medications, or complex range of medications
- Complete diabetes management for newly diagnosed diabetic or caregiver
- Wound care where the complexity of the wound, overall condition of the patient, or ability of the caregiver makes teaching necessary
- Care of a recent ostomy or reinforcement of ostomy care if needed
- Self-catheterization
- Administration of gastrostomy or enteral feedings
- Administration of intravenous medications
- Performance of activities of daily living when the patient or caregiver must use special technique and adaptive devices due to a loss of function
- Transfer techniques and adaptive devices due to a loss of function
- Proper body alignment, positioning, and turning techniques for a bed-bound patient
- Prosthesis care and gait training
- Intravenous
- Intramuscular
- Subcutaneous injections and infusions
- Intravenous feedings
Nasopharyngeal and Tracheal suction - training is usually indicated
Catheters - Insertion, sterile irrigation, and replacement of catheters
Wound Care
- Direct hands-on wound care treatment
- Teaching of the wound care
- Skilled observation and assessment of the wound
- Teaching of ostomy care
- Treatment, observation and assessment of complications
